For the Peach Layer:
- 2 (15 oz) cans of sliced peaches in light syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
For the Cake Mix Topping:
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Optional Toppings:
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
Optional Flavor Enhancers:
- 2 tablespoons sour cream (to add moisture)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (to prevent soggy bottom)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Drain canned peaches completely
Mix cake mix with melted butter and eggs
Spread peaches in baking dish
Pour cake mix batter over peaches
Bake for 40-45 minutes
Let cool for 10 minutes before serving
